Greetings all! It's good to be up and running. As of today, there will be a policy in place for submitting art. 1.) There will be a selective process. This is not about whether or not I like your art, but more to prevent "exhibitionist snapshot syndrome" You are welcome to debate my choices with me, I will always consider what you have to say. 2.) It would be preferred if submissions that are from a series or are similar could be cut to a minimum. Select only the best of a shoot, or I will do so myself when accepting them. I won’t be enforcing this, but please remember it’s better for the group and for you if you only submit your best work. TIPS FOR NUDES (and good photography in general): Focus correctly. This means, unless there is a specific artistic reason to do otherwise, have your subject matter clearly in focus. Often with nude close-ups, people try to get too close, and the camera cannot focus. In this case, try take from further away or zoom in, or if working in digital, take a picture from further away and then crop the image closer in paint (or Photoshop of course). Keep colours to a minimum. Only have what there needs to be, and select what colours you want in the photo with care. Unnecessary colours are distracting. This is when black and white can prove very useful. If working in black and white, and you have access to digital manipulation of your image, try play around with the contrast. A very grey image can look quite bland, while meanwhile, the same image, with greater contrast, could be bold, dramatic or striking. If you use Photoshop, try play with levels and curves (found under image/adjustments). Less is more, but too little can leave you bare in composition. Cutting out of excess visual information is great for focusing on your subject, but an image with just the subject needs to be well executed to look any different from an everyday snapshot. THINGS TO CONSIDER: -shape -form -shadows/light -colour/monochrome -line -composition -texture -individuality and creativity (thinking out the box) REMEMBER: The aim is not just to supply the world with another picture of your/someone’s genitals. It's about capturing the beauty - artistically Feedback would be great. If there was anything in this journal you, like, dislike, want to add to, etc, feel free to comment here or note me.
